Skiing

Whatever the level there is skiing for you in the Portes du Soleil.

La Grande Terche offers the perfect place to start for adult and infant beginners who can move off the nursery slopes and onto unintimidating blues and greens in the course of a week. The 15km Circuit Roc d'Enfer at the same place offers one of the quietest and most picturesque routes around.

More advanced skiiers will at some stage want to head to the other 12 resorts and 650km of piste of the Portes du Soleil. Our guests normally drive to either Ardent, Morzine or Les Gets at the start of the day and from here the possibilities are enormous.

Other Winter Activities

Cross country skiing - use of the four designated areas is free, equipment rental available in Morzine.

Helicopter - see the sights or be dropped on an Italian glacier for the off piste ski of your life.

Ice diving - explore under the ice of Lake Montriond for a surreal and unique experience.

Ice skating - either indoors at the Palais du Sport or outdoors next to the tourist office in Morzine.

Swimming - the indoor pool at Morzine is a brilliant recent addition. Two kids pools alongside the 25m pool, saunas and steam baths too. The kids will love Aquariaz at Avoriaz.

Ice climbing - plenty to offer, guide recommended.

Snowshoeing - get away from the pistes and take in snowy trails with the help of your raquettes.

Off piste - there is masses of off piste in the Portes du Soleil and there are guides to help you stay safe and make the most of your powder adventures.

Ski touring - attach some skins to your skis and take to the mountain in the opposite direction to everyone else. Brilliant for getting the lungs going and for seeing the mountain from a totally different perspective.

Ski joering - glide along on skis behind a horse.

Sledging - night time ski runs at Pleney or take yourself up to the telecabine at La Grande Terche, careful to stay of the pistes.

Snowmobile - guided tours throught the forests of Super Morzine.

Yooner - part sledge, part ski, it's catching on fast.
